do you spend on your computer / laptop / blackberry / iphone and the like?
Would you be sane if these were confiscated from you for 3 straight days ?
I have a feeling there is a strong addiction to the kind above in our house ... especially BP has this affiliation.
Please tell me honestly ...

After the Scout sleeps, we are definitely on the laptop for a couple of hours catching up on work and misc. This is apart from the real work hours during the day.
Totally addicted!
Without the mobile, music and laptop, life would be very difficult!!
So not telling you this.
I have a G1 and each time the thing dings, I run to check my email.
Then after the kids get to bed, I blog or read blogs or catch up on FB or chat with my sisters.
I avoid logging onto the laptop/comp on the weekends though.
honest? On the laptop - 8 hours at the job, 1-2 hours additional after getting home
Phone-16 hours :) All day except when I am sleeping
office hours!
verrry rarely once i get back home and almost never on weekends!
cheers!
abha
ps: cell phone 24/7
Laptop - 1 or 2 hrs day, no laptop on weekends though. Considering that I use it to look up recipes, pay bills, bank etc. I am not too alarmed.
Serious iphone addiction in the past two months. Some how trying to break out of it. Wearing skirts and pants w/o pockets helps :) ! I leave the iphone in my purse for the fear of dropping it on the floor.
Whole day long....and I feel I'm on the verge of being blind and deaf and challeged in many other ways!!!!
@AJ: Catching up work part is tricky ... it extends beyond mid night most days with BP and that is bothering me a lot these days :(
@Pixie: Yep ... you are right .. in the confines of our home, it seems a must. But surprisingly when I was in India missed none of them.
@Asaaan: You must have a strong will power to avoid over weekends. And that thing about checking email on phone ... BP does it a lot ... be it in the mall ... in the doctor's office or airport. Thankfully I am not so much into this.
@G: Isn't that kinda sad we are all so much into these gadgets ... growing up the only thing we knew was TV and now we have all these gadgets and we get used to them so quickly as if they are second skin.
@Abha: Ha... finally someone who doesn't use laptops as much. Hail you !
@Utbt: Now I know the reason for so much sanity in you ... you don't use these items.
@PNA: WHole day ??? Wow ... you are way ahead of many of us in this then.
I don't spend too much time at the computer or on phone but I expect it to be available any time I want it and when it isn't, it makes me mad.
I keep checking mails and blogs every time I can find a minute between doing things. so thats about an hour in the morning. another hour in the night. sometimes two if the husband is traveling and not home. so 3 hours a day. no blackberry or iphone.
Hd keeps checking his blackberry and also works for a bit in the night. but not into annoying levels. we both love it when we go out for a trip without all these gadgets. :)
Hubby spends much more time on computer than me at home - catching up on non work related stuff - atleast an hour every night. I spend may be 30 minutes at home, but then we are both online during day time at work! So what can I say!
@Usha: Very very balanced person you ... and a reasonable demand you have :)
@Boo: You mean you churn out all those funny posts in your mind and publish them as and when laptop is available ?? Hail you Boo !
@Lakshmi: You sound pretty much like me :)
But in our case, hubby spends more time on work related stuff :)
we dont have blackberrys and the like. we are technology-challenged pair
just my laptop: and i am a morning and night checker ; far less on weekends.
I dont have a cellphone...
I dont watch Television...
**
the spouse is wedded to his work and Vivek Jokes on TV (woe is me) --> work is his addiction i think...
I use it because I have to and it is in front of me. I can go on without it if I am with my immediate family members. Last year went to Ooty with my parents, inlaws, husband, kid and I didn't use my phone at all. I didn't even bother to check my laptop. It was almost a week trip.
Also, when I am vacationing then I don't miss it at all.
@Mim: Marriage with work ... my spouse too. And thats the main reason for this post .... I was wondering if I was being unreasonable in asking the hubby to turn off his cell phone during the weekends.
@Solilo: Me too ... me too ... I never missed my laptop / phone during my month long vacation in India.
I think I wud still be sane if its matter of 3 days provided I am holidaying somewhere or hv the dear ones around :)
But, if am alone, I just can't do without them ;) Blogging, listening to music, calls is all I do then ;)
I live on my iphone and laptop.I can blame the laptop addiction to work but then away from work it is all about the iphone :)
@Swaram: Around family ... yes no laptop time ...
Hey, I click on your name and it takes to a blog which has not been updated lately. Can you pls share your blog URL ?
@Sands: Laptop addiction is definitely work to hubby ... me, not really ... I browse :) I have been resisting the iphone only because I know I will get hooked.
Hey sorry! Actually, that points to my blogspot one.. I hv moved to wordpress
http://thesongoflife.wordpress.com/ is the url :)
Hm lets see - at work ofcourse. Once I'm home hardly half hour (after kids are in bed) nothing on weekends.I have a bare bones 1000 rs phone so no question of emails etc
I bought a desktop (and put it in one corner of the home) so I'd be more disciplined - if I can't see the kids, I don't stay logged on for long. With a laptop you tend to be there but also not be there which I hate.
Hubby has blackberry/laptop etc and I honestly find blackberry more intrusive than laptop.
@Swaram: Thanks for the URL
@Poppy: Lets form a blackberry hate club ... BP is so hooked to his I tell you.
You are quite disciplined with your laptop I guess :)
i am hardly ever on the phone. TV is only after the kids are asleep. and laptop - a lot. about 8-9 hrs a day, but I do it when the kids arent around etc. i am not addicted - how do i know? i often go away from the internet and know that i dont even as much as miss it. in fact i enjoy being out of the city - away from it all. :)
Oh I spend entirely too much time on the comp! Part is work-from-home and the rest total timepass! Luckily we don't have a laptop...and I hate messaging.
@Chitra: Its wonderful you don't miss these gadgets ... they seem to take control over lot of our lives
@Starry: BP has a desktop is stuck there most of the time when he is home ... he avoids the laptop. Me... I am a laptop person ... but working from home has its both advantages and disadvantages .... the negative being not clear on when to turn off that computer :)
